“In a precautionary move, Henkel has announced the recall of over 1,000 units of Tec Italy Shampoo due to concerns over contamination with a harmful bacterium that can prompt a recall, Klebsiella oxytoca.
The recall affects bottles of Tec Italy Totale Shampoo, specifically the 33.81 fl. oz./1 L size. Which were distributed in certain U.S. states, including New York and California.
Klebsiella oxytoca, a bacterium known for causing infections, particularly in individuals with weakened immune systems, was detected in some of the shampoo bottles during routine microbiological testing.
Though no injuries have been reported, Henkel is acting swiftly to protect consumer health.
The presence of Klebsiella oxytoca in the product could lead to infections in various parts of the body, including the skin, eyes, and nose. Consumers, especially those with compromised immune systems, are advised to stop using the affected shampoo immediately.
Henkel is offering full refunds to those who have purchased the contaminated product and is working in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to resolve the issue.
Consumers who may have purchased the product are urged to return it to the retailer where it was bought for a full refund. Henkel has emphasized its commitment to consumer safety and satisfaction, reassuring that all necessary measures are being taken to rectify the situation.
The company has stressed that, although no harm has been reported so far, they are taking all necessary steps to prevent further risks and ensure the safety of all customers.
They have also advised any consumers who experience health issues after using the product to seek medical attention immediately.
